TVE22 1905 Circular skirt

Postby elensari » Wed Dec 07, 2011 8:00 pm

First let me apologize that I do not have any great pictures of this yet. Hopefully someone took some since I completely forgot, due to 48 hours of no sleep to finish WAY too many dresses.

I used the new Edwardian skirt pattern as part of my new ball gown which I made from left over wedding fabric. I thought this was a cute idea for the anniversary. :)
The bodice is drafted up out of Frances Grimble's The Voice of fashion. I made an attached petticoat for the skirt, and I LOVE it. It moves beautifully, and was just long enough to look awesome, but not so long to get stepped on. Thanks Heather!

Your pictures don't show! ( edit: well there they are. Huh.) :( Could you elaborate on 'attached petticoat'?

I built a petticoat off the same pattern though with the grain instead of bias, out of taffeta and trimmed it with a pleated lace frill. Then I waistbanded the two of the together, so they are one. Since the bodice ends at the waist i didn't want them sliding around on each other. Frances Grimble's book talks about attached petticoats, and I think Heather's other Edwardian skirt pattern might have one, too.

Hope that helped. :D

I like how you carry the decoration over the shoulder. So Pretty!
