I was attempting to research Biblical clothing, but the book that I borrowed from the library only went back as far as 1700's. At the earliest. That being said, there is a photograph of a gown on page 290 of The Jewish Wardrobe From the Collection of The Israel Museum, Jerusalem that has fascinating material. The dress is dated to the 1850's Germany. If you get a chance, maybe check it out. I have not requested to share or I would.
Throughout the book are some excellent examples of metal embroidery, too. Well, worth viewing.
