I am starting a dress diary!

Postby Heather » Fri Oct 07, 2011 1:16 pm

I have decided to blog about my newest dress that I am making. An 1861 Raphael Evening Dress. Of course, after this test run, it will be turned into an official TV pattern. Here's hoping all goes well.

Yeah! Now I might be motivated to learn how to use my collection of embroidery machines!

My color would be lavender, not yellow . :D

OH, my goodness, Heather. Wow! That is fantastic! I am way jealous. :D I love the choice you made for the embroidery design above the finished edge and green pops beautifully against the yellow.

The costumes are adorable! Makes me almost wish my dog would tolerate dressing up. Anyone else dress up their pet this year?

We tried to make a butch-ly studded pet harness for our hedgehog, and she ain't havin' it.

LOL! I had a hedgie for years... there's no way he would have put up with that. Although, a friend on another group suggested painting a giant hamster ball up like the death star, which might have worked b/c he LOVED that thing. Unfortunately, the monster passed several years ago. Maybe with the next hedgie :)

ETA: those Musketeer costumes are GREAT!!! So cute!

We did how-to's at the airbrush forum I belonged to, it was very helpful to beginners especially, but I always found some new trick someone had used and incorporated it into my retinue.

Your Dress diary is genius, and will be a huge help to those such as myself who are on their first sewing adventures. I have already learned how long an embroidery machine can take when doing edging so will weigh that into consideration in future should I be fortunate enough to ever own and need one.

Your dress is looking quite beautiful! I love the look of the bodice. Just gorgeous! I am eagerly looking forward to the rest of the project being completed.

Hi Heather,

Did you get this dress finished in the end? I would love to see a picture of how it turned out! :)

No, I haven't progressed much. I dis get 2 more ruffle lengths embroidered, so now I just need to get the motivation to gather them and put them on the skirt. I should have done it yesterday, but I didn't think of it.
