My Wedding Dress
I am such a procrastinator about getting pictures up but this seems like a great time since we're ordering pictures for framing so I've been looking at them quite a bit lately. We got married in October on the Santa Cruz coast since Yosemite was a bit far to get all our relatives here. We didn't do a living history wedding but we both wanted to wear something that we could use again so that definitely meant Victorian inspired clothing. I decided to go for an 1867/68 look so I could use the eliptical hoop. I found a picture of a Worth dress that had a hoop with a train and used that as my basis for inspiration. The fabric is dupioni with very little slubs that I got in the LA garment district last May. I used all TV patterns of course! Eliptical hoop and skirt, the butterfly train and the 1870s ballgown bodice. As always the patterns were a dream to work with. I made the skirt slightly fuller, the train slightly longer and I cut the bodice just a bit lower, left off the sleeves and changed it to back buttons. My husband's waistcoat is out of the same fabric as my dress and is Past Patterns

Re: My Wedding Dress
Now I'm having so much fun uploading pictures I can't stop so here are a few more! Some closeups and a view without the veil and train. Oh and I also made a new corset out of the silk with light blue flossing but I can't find a picture at the moment - if anyone is really interested I'll see if I can find one. Thanks so much for looking and letting me show off!

What, corset? Nobody here wants to see a cors...
PICTURES, WOMAN!!!
Your gown is just gorgeous! I really need to find a reason to do the butterfly train. Yours is divine.
Edit to round up an awol 's'.

Simply stunning!
And isn't it fun that your husband has the same "dress up" interest as you? You will have such fun together!

I like this look too. Not too fussy and totally elegant. It looks fabulous!
I am in love with the way dupioni looks and behaves in a dress like this, the way it creases and folds. It just looks crisp and rustly.

Re: My Wedding Dress
Thank you so much for the compliments!!! I had a great time sewing the dress and it's of course been even more fun wearing it! I will post corset pictures when I get the chance but I've been dealing with a wildland fire the last several days and actually got evacuated last night.
Not worried about my home but it's rather inconvenient getting to things right now because I have so much stuff packed in my car. So just be patient Mary and I'll flash my underwear at you eventually
