Almost finished outfit

Postby SarahMiller42 » Thu Mar 10, 2011 2:59 am

I've almost completed the first outfit out of cheep JoAnn's calico. (I need to sew the rest of the hooks and eyes on the bodice and I decided to line the overskirt so I need more fabric to complete it.) But here it is.

Is that the TV400 bodice?

I like the calico! It's so sweet.

Yes it is.

I like the green calico but think the pink might be too pink.=)

I second Miss MaryGode on the calico. It is pretty. I think the pink looks nice with the green.

I think the pink is lovely with your skin tone and hair.

I like the peplum look. I just did the 400 bodice with the long front but I wasn't sure I would like the gathered back so I re-drafted it to a basque back. I'll definitely do the peplum next time, based on how nice yours looks!

edit to add: I think I have a piece of that same gray and black plaid you have! 8)

Thanks.=)

I got the grey and blue plaid wool at the Pendleton Wool outlet store something like 8 years ago (that piece is left over after matching T-Tunics for the hubby and myself).

It's hard to tell from photos, but I suspect maybe you're thinking the contrast between the pink and green is a bit much? If it were me I'd think about adding some trim to the bodice to tone it down a bit, maybe black to match the skirt or possibly maroon or other dark red. But with or without trim it's a nice outfit very Christmassy, it makes me hungry from Xmas candy or a scoop of pistachio and another of peppermint ice-cream. :D

My humble opinion: put some of the dark green ribbon on the pink bodice.

I love the colors together.

Right now, I don't have an event in mind just yet. I mostly made it because I could and I wanted to.=) I'll find somewhere to wear it.
