Finally finished the corset

Postby SarahMiller42 » Thu Feb 24, 2011 7:01 am

So I finished the corset last night after the husband went to bed but since I was up and made him breakfast before work he snapped a few pictures for me. The corset is grey cotton duck with white cotton twill binding, the spiral steel wires in all the chanels and a front busk.

Nice! And again with that lovely chemise. I have envy. :)

Thanks.

PS Mary- the lace on both the corset and chemise are from JoAnns so probably available near you. The only thing I did differently, to Heather's chemise pattern, was instead of hemming the the neckline was to make binding with an 1 inch bias tape maker (though I didn't cut the strips on the bias) and sew it so it binded the top edge and folded to the front to make a casing for the grosgain ribbon to tie. Then I covered it up with the lace being careful to fold the front edges to meet not overlap so the ribbon could come through. The lace is two laces sewn together a tiny edging lace and a wider flat lace.
