Newbie Here!

Postby Emmaline » Wed Feb 23, 2011 2:11 pm

Hello everyone!

I have been lurking and reading for about 2 years, and didn't have the courage to post anything. Well, I decided to finally be brave and post. I am making my first pleated skirt and a matching bodice. I did all the pleats by using a fork, so they are not perfect, but here is what I have so far: Image

Welcome, Emmaline, and what you've done so far is fantastic! Don't worry about the pleats not being perfect. I have an original 1880's skirt and bodice and the pleats on the skirt are not perfect either. I was surprised when I saw how uneven they were, but actually didn't notice until I inspected up close. Can't wait to see your finished ensemble.

Katharine :)

LOL Miss Cindy! The pattern is TV 208 1870 Trained Skirt ensemble. I did shorten the overskirt/apron because I had so many pleats on the skirt part.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. Started the bodice today. Its the TV 405 1872 Vest Basque. I am also shortening the back of it because I want to show off the pretty sash of the skirt under it. Its the same purple, but the vest part is like a black Moire with flocked dots. When its done, I will post again!

Wow, just WOW!! That is absolutely fabulous. Like everyone else, I cannot wait to see the bodice. Great work, and lovely pleats.
