Cathi, that is a real gem. Very nice work. Did you use a pattern?

Thank you Katharine.
I did not use a pattern (I think that the back of the hat is a little too wide for the period) but the buckram is a wonderful help for the form.
I was lucky enough to find a wide, stiff velvet ribbon which keeps its shape when the loops are made. So I can put them vertically or horizontally without them flattening. On the other hand, sewing all the thicknesses together was difficult (I don’t often use glue) and I broke and bent some large needles. :?

Wow - Magnifique! And without a pattern, it's really lovely.

En fait c'est du ''maquillage'': le tissu extérieur cache les imperfections de la forme et la doublure intérieure cache tout ce que l'on ne veut pas voir!

Elensari, (is that Kelly Cochran?)
Thank you for the compliment but it’s nothing compared to your work.
I love the dresses you make. I often look at Waisted Efforts & Flickr just to enjoy your creations. I like the 1906 Dinner Dress very much, Melanie's dress and the dress made with a sari (?) for the Blue dress. Your Old Ballgown would be perfect for me (not the size  )…,..
Wonderfull!!!! They are all wonderfull: the red ball dress, the Elizabethan costumes….the black hat( Truly Victorian?)…

Well Geez, Cathi... *blush* Thanks! Thanks for taking the time to look at my stuff. I do enjoy it so. I would love to do more Edwardian things, but I am only slowly teaching myself to drape, and I am always so busy, it is hard to make time to play in new eras. Thanks so much for the compliments. Made my day. I will go much happier to plowing through this Elizabethan wedding stuff that I must finish. I have my own wedding to work on, too!

Happy sewing! :D

Hi Cathi

Sorry I did not get this reply, but yes that is about the outfits I made for Deeanne Gist. Her event started yesterday, and there are only a couple of pictures of her in her pieces, but they are cute so far. I unfortunately did not have the time to document her stuff as much as I would have liked so I am hoping for some helpful people to take a pile of lovely photos for me.

Hopefully I will have something up at WE soon.

Thanks!

~kelly
