I made this dress for my church's 160's anniversary celebration on the first Sunday of May - but I've finally got around to sharing what I accomplished with you all!

With HUGE thanks to the clear and wonderful TV454, I chugged along on my grandmother's old Elna sewing machine to produce... (drumroll please)... this!

...okay, so the quality's a little terrible. But here are some clearer pictures of me at church!

Not bad for my first period dress, eh?

That's a very nice dress, I think the color works really well on you, you look like you belong in the period. One thing I was thinking when looking at the pics was that maybe a few more petticoats would let your dress be seen at it's fullest potential??

Good call with the petticoats, SarahS - I'm wearing exactly one skirt, and it's not a petticoat so much as a skirt I already owned that added a bit. It DEFINITELY needs petticoats! I just didn't get them made before the deadline. A corded one in particular would have been wonderful.

Figured it was something like that though some people new to the hobby don't always realize the importance of layers of petticoats. As for not enough time I highly recommend one of those pocket watches that let's you stop time for everyone else allowing you to meet those deadlines much easier though the upgraded models that keep you from aging while you're on your private time is worth the extra cost if you are the type who uses the time stop feature a lot.

SarahS, if you could kindly let me know where I can get one of those!!! I've got a wedding dress to sew for myself before October... I imagine it'd probably be a good idea to get an early start on it... but a Time-Turner couldn't hurt!
