My outfits for dragonfly societys 1 year anniversary

Postby mette.wikkelso » Mon Nov 30, 2009 1:31 am

I went to the local historical costume party with my boyfriend and one of his friends, and we went with the victorian period.

The dress is made from 'TV290 1889 Draped Skirt' and 'TV460 1885 Cuirass Bodice' with heavy modifications (they were the only TV patterns I had at the time). The hat came from a local hatter who was a little bit mad, but sold custom made hats for 60 dollar 300 danish kroner.

The boys' outfits was propably not supposed to happen, if all the problems were an indication. The shirts and trousers was their own, but the waiscoat, the frockcoat and cravat was my draft from blank paper, based on http://www.cutterandtailor.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=215.
The hats came from the same hatter.

Thank you for the response.
I am really proud of the boy's outfits, as they took alot of work to draft and get to sit right on the owners. I also learned how to insert shoulder-pads to get the coats to sit right, though I don't know if it is period. Everybody kept asking about the hats, as it is rather hard to find this kind of hats (they are not straight, but curved at the top) in Denmark.

My own dress got alot of attention that evening, and I am generally happy with it, but if was made to fit over a self-drafted corset, that took away alot of my bust. I now have tv110 and want to make one or several new corsets, but it's gonna be a little bit scary to see if I can use the dress with the new corset-pattern.
