Wedding Dress 1887 style

Postby Manon Antoinette » Thu Nov 19, 2009 12:48 pm

Wedding dress made on commission. Sketch also made by me.

Based upon wedding fashion from the period as well as catalogues of the period.

Fabrics used are Italian Silk and lined in a glazed cotton, bodice interlined with bottom weight and boned on the seams.

Bodice and sleeve pattern made by using the McDowell Garment Drafting System from 1887.

Train has a dust ruffle added with a double lace edge, to protect the train from staining.

A bustle petticoat is worn underneath the skirts. The bride also wears Victorian underwear and a corset underneath (all also made by me).
Handmade silk fabric buttons on the back and hand pleated faux vest part and sleeve end. The sleeves are 3/4th in length, they look wider then they are on the doll, they do not fit under the sewing machine so were handsewn!

Hope you like it :)

P.S., Heather, the forum has been down in FireFox for a while now, all it shows is a white screen and in the top left "IE4" I finally decided to give Eplorer a go and see if it worked!

Fabulous as always. You do such wonderful work.

About the board, I use Firefox and have not had any trouble. Not sure why you would be having a problem. Maybe try clearing your history and reload the page?

On DA, LiveJournal and just about everywhere else on the Internet (except TV and The Alley) I go by CreedsGalBirdy. Personally, I think this wedding dress is worthy of more deviations...and I hope you don't mind, but I may use it as inspiration for my next dress.

Don't worry, I'll probably be pasting a dress diary on every forum I'm on when I start that dress! Hopefully, that won't be too long from now.
