My new purple striped natural form

Postby diana » Mon Aug 23, 2004 1:19 pm

I only tacked on a portion of the knife-pleatings to give you an idea of what the bottom will look like when finished. The knife pleatings came out really well using the Clotilde pleating board!

This is the dress that I really want to make an overskirt for but couldn't decide which pattern.

Hope this works:

Edited: no, I see it didn't work. It's on my irev.net storage. Can someone help me with this?

I simply typed in www.irev.net/diana on my browser and found the files in your directory. Nice work!

Oh Diana...that is pretty...thankyou for mentioning the pleating board...I have been thinking of getting one for myself and have wondered if they work!
Have you considered the draped overskirt? TV303 In that darker blue color? I just finished it I like the tailored way it looks.

Josie: do you really think I should use the dark blue for the overskirt instead of the striped?

I am having trouble deciding on the style and color. I know I want to put heavy smocking as a trim that we discussed in another thread (no pun intended). I love the look of the back of TV303 and I'm hoping to use the apron of 324 (it has to be the longer front to stay in keeping with the natural form of the dress.)

What do you think?

Open for discussion everyone. Maybe I'll take a completed pic of the whole outfit tonight and post it in another topic.

Diana...sorry I'm a dingbat... I can see the dress...I was thinking blue so when you mentioned purple stripe I thought you had made another!!

Yes I agree the apron will have more of a natural form look...and yes I do kinda think the dark blue would be really intresting... but I like a lot of contrast. I can't wait to see this one all done...

You'll never guess what I did I took the front of the bodice apart and redrafted it to have an asymetrical front (kinda military) I really like the look...so now we are definatly in the tailored traveler mode, so I'm keeping pleats to a minimum, and I am going to do some ruching at the cuff and try that...thankyou for the great sugestion. I will keep better track of the thread this time so I can keep up with the dress.

No problem! I thought you meant my blue contrast color anyway.

I'll post the finished pics now:

Here's the shirred look ruching that I'm thinking about trimming the overskirt with:

Here are the pleats with the ruffle beneath and the contrast color ruching over it.

Here's the whole dress view (I still need to sew the ribbon to the hem of the bodice):

Most likely there's an issue somewhere, but as soon as you have opened the picture another way (for instance, I right clicked the x and pasted the address into another browser window), it's in your computer's memory and you can see it in the thread.

Josie! You get back over here, girl. I need your opinion and you slyly walked away.

Help me decide on the overskirt! I'm dying here! I want something over it but I can't decide. What about the overskirt in this week's natural form dating game? (or did it start last week?)

Style and color? I know I want to put heavy shirring as thetrim. I love the look of the back of TV303 and I'm hoping to use the apron of 324 (it has to be the longer front to stay in keeping with the natural form of the dress.)

What do you think? What does everyone think? Thinking caps please! :D

OK Heather please yell at me if you dont want me posting your graphics here... I just want to put them side by side to get a visual idea...

OK now I'm thinking it might be tricky to marry these two...but I wonder if it would be eaiser to sorta lengthen the 303 to a longer drape in the front? hmmm....

The over skirt on the dating game week 6 almost looks like an August or waterfall...its VERY long in the front.... now I think the 324 would look lovely all on its own too!

Since there already is a lot of stripes and stuff, I wouldn't go too fancy. maybe

or if you wanted to go fancier but wanted to keep the fron open, you could try http://www.fantasy-kleidung.de/images/small/tv328g.jpg (328)
