Board Maintenance

Postby Heather » Thu Jan 07, 2010 8:34 pm

Hi All,

I am taking the board off line for a short time. Hopefully, everything will be back up and running in no time. And with an update, maybe everything will work better!

Or better yet, I will have the board moved over to the new host.
If not, then I will have the board back online soon anyway.

Thank you for your patience.

Awsome,

I have moved, updated, and restyled the board!!

That only took 3 years to accomplish.

There are many new features available with this board, so I am sure that I will be taking a few days/weeks to get used to the changes. And figure out what everything does.

If you have and concerns or comments about anything, please let me know.

Thank you all.

The gallery is in the same place as it was, no changes there.

I am still working on fine tuning the headers to the board, where I will put in some links eventually.

Ahhh, my pc no longer hiccups when I want to access the TV board! Well done Heather! I know its not easy to emigrate from one to another board! Personally though for me I've gone from the jardin style to the subsilver(I think its that one) as I prefer to have lots more message space and picture space than the jardin one seemed to allow.

I dont know if its available on phpbb but one thing that has always been useful is the "hover to preview". Is this a feature you can turn on?

I totally understand. That is the old board style, just with different colors. Now that Jardin is up and running, I can work on getting the subsilver to look a little more personal. I kinda like the green though, so maybe I will go with this color sceme rather than the mauve/pink/purple.

<new>

I have changed the color scheme of the subsilver2 style to the colors of the old board. So if you want to use it, rather than the Jardin style, please feel free.

There is a little icon in the upper right hand side, with green 'A's on it. Clicking that will cycle through 3 sizes. Not a great deal of difference, but it does help some. I can always change the default size if a lot of people want a larger font.

I can change the size of font per message that I post but I dont seem to have a green box in the right hand side of my screen! Maybe its admin only?

It should be up top, far right, in the header section, oposite the board navigation string on the left top. At least if you are using the Jardin style. Not sure about the subsilver2.

OK, testing a link here to see if it open in a new window or not

Ok, found a hic-up in the new board designs. It would appear that all html codes are disabled, and I can see no way to make them work (other than to change them manually to bbcode.) So all the gallery links that before required the html code, no longer function. (go figure :bang: )

Right, the green A's are there in the jardin style, not the subsilver :( Also, when you use them to scale up the fonts, they scale up ALL the fonts, not just the font within the post which is the only font in question...

I dont know about everyone else but on my pc it looks like it is set at 8 or 10 points which is tiny for me!

By default, it is 10 pts. I can most likely make only the post font bigger.

Its only the post font which is appearing really small! Mind you, my hubby says I am odd and that around 10 pts is normal for a forum!

I bet the real problem is that the post font is lighter colored. I actually had already darkened it quite a bit. It was almost impossible to see, even for me. I will make is a little bit darker and that should help.

Is there any way to make the background light purple again (or white in the text box)? This message box (that I'm writing in right now) is such a deep shade of green, it's tough on the eyes.

LOL, I really like that green.

But if you want to look at the purple style, go into your user preferences/control panel, and select board thepreferences tab. Then choose subsilver2 as the board style. That one is fairly close to the original board colors.

When I try to search the forums, the mashine only seach the post made after the redesign. Does anybody else have the same problem?

I reset the forum search index, so it should now properly search all the posts.
