Interlining for TV 405

Hello everyone!
First time on the forum and was hoping that you could give me some advice. I'm making the vest basque and I was wondering how necessary the interlining is to the piece. I will be wearing the piece without a corset and without the bones (It's for a steampunk thing), but I am concerned about the weight of the overall bodice and the outside temperature. (It's gonna be HOT!!) The rest of my dress is already heavy and very warm when I have everything on. I don't want to overheat.

So with that said, can I interline with a lighter fabric (like muslin) and then do the lining?

Thanks!

Well, I would say that if you are not wearing a corset or boning, then the interlining will be the ONLY structure your bodice has. These bodices fit very tight, and without structure, the seams will pull and bulge and it will not look as good as it should. At least the interlining will hold the seams together. I would not use anything less than a heavy broadcloth for interlining. Muslin has no support to it, really.
