So I want to make a full separate blouse and a jacket out of the TV 403 1872 vested bodice. Would I bone both layers? For the jacket part, I'd make it two sizes bigger, right? The blouse layer I want to make out of a light weight linen and the jacket layer out of a cotton velvet. Basically I want to take the jacket part off for warmer weather events and still wear the outfit. I'm not as concerned about period correctness since I'd mostly wear it for Steampunk events.
If you make the vest with a thin, single layer in the back, like a modern vest, then you won't need to make the outer part any larger. You only need to add size if you are adding padding layers to the jacket to make it a coat, or are planing to wear the jacket over a full bodice. If you are worried about it, then make the vest first, and then do your jacket fitting over your vest.
