TV 443 Bodice question

Postby mgbetz » Sun Feb 01, 2009 3:07 pm

Here's the situation.

The muslin for this fits in the largest size except for the bust. Back and underarms, neck appears ok (could use a bit room on the neck though--can scoop that a bit). Sleeves, no problem.

Considering wearing ease, based on the other TV patterns I've sewn, would cutting wider darts (cut, pivot method) work? By itself?

To keep the front on the grainline straight, could I also add to the closure at the front, from neck to waist?

Corseted bust measurement is 52-53" depending on breathing room. Or not breathing :)

When the person wears my largest muslin, the front will not close but back looks ok.

Hope this makes sense, sorry no camera!

You can also try adding under the armpit the amount needed. Was the front of the armpit fitting ok? If it is too snug, then adding under the arm would be the perfect solution. If it fits perfect, you could still add at the side, but then move/pivot the armhole back that same amount.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Later this week we'll have another session and I'll take a closer look at the armhole fit.
