Mid 1850s Basque Bodice

Postby Rebecca » Fri Sep 26, 2014 2:23 pm

Looking for help on how to make a basque bodice. Should I use TV 443 as a base and make the points a straight edge and flair the seam between the front and side pieces out from the waist? Original patterns look like the front darts extend all the way to the hem edge, is this correct? Any advice would be appreciated. Pictures are great because I am very visual. Thanks!

Yes, that would be a good start. The darts do extend to the hem, if the hem is not too long. Just extend them the same as everything else. You may find that you need to let the darts out more at the hem than for a bodice with points, to get over the hoop.
