Those tiny metal sequins?

Postby Vienna La Rouge » Mon Aug 23, 2010 12:31 pm

Hello all,
Wondering if you could help me find, or know of a good source for small metal sequins (also known as 'paillettes').
I seem to recall there was a website that carried all kinds of them in various colors, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was.
I saw that MJ Trim has them, but they only carry silver.
I'm making a fancy 18th century waistcoat, and I've seen such sequins often used as embellishment to add sparkle.

Thanks!

I believe the term we use today for the flat discs is "spangles". "Sequins" are the faceted ones. Not sure where to buy them, but maybe that will help?

Have you tried Natural Expressions in Los Gatos? They're not cheap, but they have many pretty things....

Thanks Rangerfeline!
That shop is just up the street from my place of work.
I'll have to head up there on Wed. after work and take a look, since they close @ 4pm on Mondays.

Hedgehog Handworks also carries them online; you may wish to comparison shop there. They have gold and silver.

Thanks Bookwyrm!
They look like a great source for other gold-work supplies too.

Hey, I know Reconstructing History had them when they were vending recently. If you haven't already found what you want by now, you can try them, too.
"I firmly believe that every human being has a duty to make himself as attractive as possible," Erté wrote. "Clothes are a kind of alchemy; they can transform human beings into things of beauty or ugliness."
