TV 102 /Chemise question

Postby Quallus » Fri Jun 17, 2016 8:00 am

Hi Heather,

just a quick question on the chemise. Do you recommend sewing the shoulder seam first and then attach the sleeve or sew the sleeve on first and then sew the shoulder seam?
Thanks.

I don't think it matters, one way or the other.

Well, that is way I have it in the pattern, but lot of people sew it together like normal. So really, it will work either way. The reason for the buttons is that if you are wearing a low cut bodice, you can unbutton the straps and tuck them into the top of the corset, and not have to worry about the showing. It is historical, and you see about 50/50 of the chemises from the era with button.

It makes perfect sense and I have seen a lot of pictures with buttons on the chemise! I really like that idea but wanted to make sure I understood it right.
Thank you again Miss Heather!!!!! :D
