TV170 - patchwork fabric

Postby LDT2014 » Sat Jan 24, 2015 6:26 am

So I have TV170 I need to make a petticoat to go over a bustle rather than my generic petticoat that comes up a bit short. Anyway problem is I don't have 5yards of one fabric. But I do have lots of fat quarters gifted to me and about 2-3 metres of one peice of fabric. My thought cut out each section in a different fabric in a patchwork type effect. My reasoning is it won't show as long as I make sure the bottom ruffle is one colour.
What do you think? Crazy idea or genius?
I've not seen any exant patchwork petticoats but the poorer sort must have done something similar.
I do already have a patchwork bustle. ;)

I've never seen a patchwork petticoat, but that doesn't mean they didn't exist. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. As an alternative, you can always make your petticoats out of sheets purchase for around $1 at a thrift store. Cheapest source of fabric that I know of.
