Re: Different Types of Dresses

The lady who was in her own house did not have a hat.
Never in public without a hat during the daytime.

Excuse my English :?

Hello,
Has anyone worn a bodice like this one ? Is it really possible to sit comfortably without damaging the dress? :?

Re: Llandrindod Wells 2010

Susan ,we wish you a happy wedding day and a lovely honeymoon. We are impatient to see the photos of the bride (and groom  ) in her Truly Victorian Dress (if I have understood correctly). I think that for Louisa 3 new dresses is quite enough. I know that girls (young or… less young) like to ha...

Re: A year of work

The red gloves are very…red. They match the hat perfectly but they are very..red. In fact too red for me . When my husband was taking the photo I realised that I had forgotten my gloves and as they are very fine kid and difficult to put on I took the first gloves I saw…the red ones (difficult not to...

A year of work

A year of work for the Llandrindod Wells Festival 2010 is finished and in the box . Here are some pictures of the clothes. If you wish, you can also look in the Photo Gallery at Cathi Higham. As I am very lazy I did not explain what patterns they are but as they are all Truly Victorian I am sure you...

Re: Fantail skirt question

Tiffers is right. In fact your skirt may be whatever length you like, as long as you feel good wearing it. I presume that women have always known how to adapt chosen models to their needs and their comfort (!) whilst still following the fashion (length of the train, neckline of the dress, size of sl...

1880's(?) summer hat

An old, battered man’s straw hat transformed into an 1880’s (?) rather extravagant lady’s summer hat. This year has been a hat year , but I’ll be leaving soon for the UK, including Wales of course, so now it’s finished. No more hats! (until October) http://trulyvictorian.com/gallery2/main.php?...

Re: 1848.51 Bonnet

Thank you Katharine,

I worked very hard on the shoes and the shoe repairer ruined them by making an ugly sole which was too wide and too thick. I was very disappointed. Fortunately the dresses are long.

For my hair I only use rollers and a false braid that I add to my hair which is quite long.

Gibson Girl from 1887 to 1914 : where is the problem ?
Some people do not wear truly Victorian costumes for the balls so I am sure that the "Gibson Girl" ballgown will be perfect.
Sorry Tiffers, no news.

Excuse my English but David, my translator, is asleep.

Re: At last! - a new dress

Joëlle,
This costume (dress & hat) is lurvely as the English say & spot on for the summer. :)
I love the back of your Polonaise.
If you are going to Llandrindod hope to see you there .

It’s a pity the photos aren’t a bit bigger.

Re: 1890 Bibi

Elensari, (is that Kelly Cochran?) Thank you for the compliment but it’s nothing compared to your work. I love the dresses you make. I often look at Waisted Efforts & Flickr just to enjoy your creations. I like the 1906 Dinner Dress very much, Melanie's dress and the dress made with a sari (?) f...
