Re: Victorian Clothing for the Very Large

It’s true that wearing a corset gives us a better ‘allure’. We have better posture and everything that is surplus is hidden. Our curves are impeccably held in place, our line is faultless, it’s super! What a difference compared with those where everything droops (even if they’re slim). We feel much ...

Re: Sad news about one of our UK members

When I opened the forum this morning I wasn’t expecting such terrible news. It has come as an awful shock and has really upset me. http://trulyvictorian.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=8575 Louise Copsey was a young woman full of life, happy and smiling and that’s how w...

Serena Dyer also sells hats in Bath during the Jane Austen Regency Festival. She is a very pleasant young lady. The hats come from “Just Two Tailors” in the USA. http://www.just2tailors.com/?category=Hats" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Carol Haven at Just Two Tailors is also a very ...

TV420B

Heather,
My bust is 39 ½”
the waist is 33 ½”
& the hips are 41”.
Usually for the bodice I work with a Back E and a Front G .
My next project is the TV 420 B. If I use a Back D and a Front G again will that be all right?

Re: Phew! The wedding is over!

My best wishes for your future happiness. An absolutely breathtaking bride! A fabulous re-creation in all its details (coiffure, headdress, veil, bracelet, shoes, gloves, material, fringes… ) : everything is there. And the sleeves… That’s more than just Couture , it’s Haute Couture (hand-made?). Alm...

Re: Why ? Corset

Thank you Heather. I wore my corset lacing it as you say. Effectively it works but if when sitting my bum is comfortable, when standing my corset looks a bit like a Tutu :) (unbecoming under Belle Epoque skirts). I had, even so, curved it in slightly at the bottom edge. http://trulyvictorian.com/gal...

Why ? Corset

Why does my bust move up under my chin (well, not quite  ) when I sit down? It’s very uncomfortable and rather ridiculous  . http://trulyvictorian.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=7567 Standing http://trulyvictorian.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.Download...

Re: 1881 Evening Dress

Kelly, thank you for all your advice which I’m sure will help me a lot. We have just spent 10 days at a Victorian festival in Wales, dressed all the time (day and evening) as Victorians. I took several costumes but realised afterwards that, in the daytime, I most often wore clothes from the 90’s (wi...
