Its not victorian, but i have a wonderful book called 'The Tudor Tailor' which has a lot of info about techniques from the period and has patterns which can be drafted to size for both men and women :-)

Thanks for the kind comments everybody :D Majors: The fabrics are mainly taffeta and i think i used some kind of cotton for the fronts of the black jacket. I find it really easy to work with and it drapes brilliantly. Just be carefull when you iron it as i had to redo the whole front of the red over...

thanks for the replys everyone :-) I have a slight overlap i know, but it's only about 1cm! also when i'd finished it fit perfectly on the waist and did'nt meet at my bust, so i added a little placket to give me the slight overlap and then hid the seam with the braid. Never come across the shrinking...

my polonaise :-)

Hey Everybody :) Just thought i'd share with you my finished polonaise. I was going to trim with same fabric but i didn't quite have enough left so i found this purple satin which i thought matched quite well. I was also gonna put buttons down the front rather than frogs but i made the front pieces ...

new bodice

Hi everybody,

i've been busy again and done myself a new bodice. I've mixed TV 422 with TV405 because i love the back of the 405 but wanted a change on the front. I think it works quite well. :-)

thanks for the hip tip Heather, i'll try that on my next one.

and it looks like i've got a lot of unpicking to do!!!!

One of the skirts i've got to alter is the tv294 - french fan skirt. Would you alter the double pleat at the back or increase drats at the front?? or perhaps both?

hi

i would suggest starting with one of Heather skirts, of all the patterns i have ever used, i find hers the easiest. Maybe a straight skirt? not too difficult and very effective, perhaps tv 225?
