I'm in Uxbridge, near Heathrow. Do let me know if you'll be heading this way. Perhaps we could meet in London?

Hi Wyte Phantom, Yes, I'd still really like to meet you! The only trouble is I'm currently out of a job again, and getting poorer by the hour, so travelling around England is not easy at the moment. Hopefully I'll soon be earning again, and then I'll be all for it! I think I am going to be in Roches...

It is fun to have a costume parade, and let anyone who is dressed up have a turn on the catwalk. It doesn't have to be a competition, just line everyone up in chronological order and let them show off their pretty clothes. You can make it an open event for anyone to participate in although a nice wa...

Hi Tiffers,

He carved his own hat block from a piece of firewood, based on a description he saw in a book called "Handmade in London". He's made lots of hats from it for shows he has been in!

I'll happily post a link to my pictures, provided the other ladies don't mind, as they are in some of the pictures! Let me know, ladies, then I'll go ahead and post. It certainly was a great time! I am so glad that we managed to get there, even for such a short time. Definitely worth it :D PS: Did a...

Grain line - Eton Jacket

Hi Heather, I'm about to cut out the Eton Jacket, and I notice that the Front piece doesn't have a grain line marked on it. I think I can take an educated guess at how to place the piece, but thought I would let you know anyway. Will it upset things drastically if my guess is slightly out? Kind rega...

I would say, use it for the hem - it sounds like you have pretty much convinced yourself of that already!

To my mind (and I realise this is a sweeping generalisation), ruffles are prettier, but pleats are smarter. So it depends on what look you are going for! :)

I'll be there at the end of the week only - the Friday evening and Saturday (28 & 29 August), and travelling home on the Sunday. I'll be wearing this: <a href="http://trulyvictorian.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=2607"><img src="http://trulyvictorian.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadI...

Hello, yes, I am hoping to make an appearance, but I haven't actually made a definite plan yet, so I'm afraid I may find it difficult to get accommodation at this late stage! Does anyone have a suggestion as to where I could try? I'm trying to get a friend to let me know whether he actually wants to...

Oh great, now I have too many ideas, thanks a lot everyone!

I think I'm leaning towards grey or silver now. The gold/tan based colours don't really look so good on me, although I agree they would go really well with red!

Thanks for your thoughts everyone.

What to put with red?

I'm just gazing at an 8.5m length of lovely red tafetta, which seems to be asking to be made into an 1890s gown. Can anyone suggest a good colour combination to go with the red, apart from black? I don't really want to make another red-and-black dress. I also don't want to end up looking like Mrs Cl...
