Re: Edwardian corset in the making

Thanks! This isn't the outfit I was making from Heather's patterns. I didn't finish it in time. So this is an older outfit that we've used in our Victorian/Edwardian fashion shows. I should have the other outfit done by next week and I'll see if Kat won't mind posting it for me. Not sure why I don't...

Here they are! Well, my pic is too big and I'm not sure how to make them smaller. Does anyone want to upload it for me? If so, please send me a PM.

That is a great article, Heather!

I have always thought of truly victorian as the "go to" for all my patterns!

Re: Edwardian corset in the making

OMG! This corset is so cute when done! Update on sizing: Using the E size for your waist is quite small. It only comes out to 12" waist area, each side (or 24" total). If you currently have a 27" waist, it would be perfect for you. So I ended up cutting F for the bust and waist and an...

Re: Edwardian corset in the making

I wanted a soft twill but Joann's "white" was more ivory and I didn't want the color to show through my white batiste loose blouse. So I chose Cotton Rodeo in the bottom weight section. I've used it before on corsets. It's about the same weight as the softest twill (which is pretty light c...

Edwardian corset in the making

So far, so good with the new Edwardian corset. Have all pieces put together, just waiting on the busk and boning to arrive... This one was actually easier to put together than the Victorian one. Not because the Victorian one is hard, but this new Edwardian one does not require 4 of each piece...so i...

Re: Flatlining bodice seams and adjustment paranoia

I have always done facings and never bag lined. The reason is, with a corset on, we all know how we can lose or put on weight! I lost over 10 pounds last year and I'm glad that I didn't have to rip out a lining just to take my bodices in!

Heather: riding habit fabric width?

I'm having trouble finding the fabric I want in a 60" width. The closest I found was 57 or 58". Will that do? Or do I absolutely need the last 2 or 3" of fabric for this habit skirt?

I'm hoping for a soft twill (or whatever it is that I found at M & L.)

"Yes, how many yard?"

I'm cracking up over here because that is exactly how it is! I've always had success with real English speaking people at Fabrics and Fabrics though.
