Re: SINGER STYLIST

Thanks, Heather!

And has anyone ever used the ruffler foot (not to be confused with the gathering foot). It's supposed to make pleats as well. Before spending money on yet another foot, I'd like to know others' opinions about it. Thanks!

Re: SINGER STYLIST

Thanks, Sarah, but I already purchased the Singer and keep my Brother on a side table just for contrast colors so I don't have to re-thread in a different color. Since you have a Singer, do you have the gathering foot? If so, how in the heck do you put it on? It's not a "snap on" like the ...

PATTERN PAPER

For those of you who don't cut your patterns but instead transfer them to large pattern paper, where do you buy your rolls? I see Joanns doesn't have them online and the reviews for amazon.com say better paper can be found for less elsewhere (but they forget to say where!).

Re: SINGER STYLIST

My Brother sewing machine was very specific that thread go under the spool. I'm going to call Singer tomorrow.

SINGER STYLIST

Does anyone have the new Singer Stylist? It will cost $125 just to service my Brother (which I've used for 8 years) so decided to pay a little more to get the new Singer Stylist which has a lot of nice feet (including gathering foot) but is electronic (ugh!) When threading: The book isn't telling me...

I'm using Time Warner and I never thought to check about IP with them. I hope this isn't the case.

Re: JACKET BODICE AND FANTAIL SKIRT?

It's not the train on the streets (yes, I know about that), it's the fact that you need to dress up the fantail in order to use it without an overskirt, which causes it to be fancier and not quite befitting the jacket bodice. But if it can be called a reception day dress then it's fine with me. Than...

JACKET BODICE AND FANTAIL SKIRT?

Would the jacket bodice "go" with the fantail skirt? I'm thinking NO! What do you think?

The fantail skirt seems "dressy" and the jacket bodice is a day bodice, right?

Re: Sewing Machine Recommendations

Yes, I meant that you must buy the bobbins from Brothers. It's not a universal bobbin that can be purchased anywhere. I'm hoping it is only the case with only a few of the new machines.

Re: Sewing Machine Recommendations

I understand the new Brothers require their own special bobbin which you can't purchase at a Joanns. Have you noticed that?

Re: 1880 Split Pannier Overskirt

What does one afternoon mean to you? 4 hours? 5 hours? I usually takes me 5 hours for the August overskirt including waistband and ruffles.

Re: WITHOUT A CORSET?

She has consented to the cheap flimsy River Junction corset because she's terrified of anything tight. I guess it's better than nothing! We'll see.

Re: Pattern Advice Needed

Why don't you just make the bodice with or without the special sleeves and Heather's fantail skirt for now? When you get more time, you can add the overskirt and jazz up the sleeves, etc. In fact, total red will be awesome even if you don't have time for the trim. I can make a bodice in 8 hours, and...

1880 Split Pannier Overskirt

I know many of you made the 1880 Split Pannier Overskirt. Can anyone give me an ESTIMATED time of completion from start to finish? With or without trim.

Re: WITHOUT A CORSET?

Thanks, Heather!

I wish folks would divorce themselves from the image of Scarlett holding onto the bed post while Mammy tried to cinch her in to a 16" waist! (or whatever that measurement was)

WITHOUT A CORSET?

Someone (ahem) larger than I wants a 2 piece (bodice and skirt) but refuses to wear a corset. Even if she makes the bodice bigger, will it fit her? I know these patterns are specially designed for the corseted figure (without the excess love handles flapping around). Should I tell her to just buy a ...
