1885 vest bodice polonaise

Hi Everybody!! Ok, so I am totally in love with this pattern, and I wanted to make a polonaise for halloween without having to mock up another bodice since I've finally figured this one out for my wacky body shape. My thought was to extend the front sides that attach to the vest portion, releasing t...

1885 vest bodice back neckline

Hello Everyone!!! I'm having one slight fitting issue with my bodice; the back neckline is not fitted to the base of my neck across the center back seam, it actually puckers a little out. So, my thought was to increase the width of the seam at the center back, kinda like a dart, up at the neckline. ...

I think you should use whatever material you have on hand that behaves well...what I mean is the fabric weave is relatively stiff/strong so it doesn't easily warp...also, if you have something that doesn't ravel too much, I would recommend that....there are quite a few synthetic taffetas with nice t...

Losing Weight: adjusting Late Bustle Skirts

Happy Thanksgiving! :D :D :D Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can reduce the size of the waist and hips on a late bustle skirt without having to cut the whole thing apart? I can't find anymore of the original fabric I used, and I am hoping I can just take it in at the darts.... I need to...

These are lovely gowns...each ensemble is really delightful!!! May I ask, what fabric/fiber content did you use in the red and blue outfits? I'm curious because it looks like a taffeta I have that is synthetic...did the fabric work okay for you, or did you really have to struggle with it?? :D

I'm with Heather on this one,

The diamond detailing on the top between the tucks, and the location of the tucks on the skirt, suggest to me the dress is on backwards too.

what a lovely find :D

The attached photos really don't do the dress justice. The red is actually this lovely saturated orange silk dupioni that was pleated into tiny little pleats. The tabs on the front and bottom of the bodice are all hand turned, and piping was applied to EACH and EVERY tab.... the pleats were then app...

Hi Heather~ thank you so much for the feedback...when I wear this corset under higher necklines the neckline keeps my bust in check pretty well. I'm planning on making your corset pattern next, but like you said, the shape change will require some changes to my bodices....... There's still som...

Good Morning Everyone~

I got the JPEGs loaded, they were just too large...please take a look and make some recommendations on what I can do to either fix the bust area, or, when I make a new corset what I should do with the bust area. I'd appreciate it!

Ample Bosom Too

Good Morning Everyone~ Heather, I wanted to respond to the drawing you posted in the "Ample Bosom" thread with the two different lines. I have a similar problem and when I made my corset, I chose to go along the lines you recommended, creating a higher, but more rounded bosom area. The res...
