Re: Pattern Help/Question

Thanks Heather, you are amazing! If there are problems with the waist on the original then I'm going to skip trying to scale that up and use Truly Victorian patterns as a jumping off point. I do want to keep the tunic but I am guessing I can just lengthen the bodice to the correct point.I am also as...

Pattern Help/Question

I am in love with this ballgown I found in Fashions of the Gilded Age (the one on the left) http://www.pinterest.com/pin/457678380854823991/ unfortunately for the life of me I can't figure out how to scale up the pattern. Are there any patterns from Truly Victorian that could be altered to work or c...

Re: Sizing Question

Thanks Heather. While I have your attention I have a sort of odd ball question. I have noticed that while I have a nice silhouette in my corsets I get absolutely no waist reduction, in fact my waist measurement is a little bigger in my corset. Am I doing something horribly wrong (for example should ...

Re: Russian Court Gown

If I do that, will I be able to get the long court train or should I just cut it as is for the bell skirt to get that?

I don't know anything about this but I did think that a sport or negligee corset might work.

Re: Hello. I'd like advice.

I may be wrong but I do believe that a ballgown bodice was mandatory for Court occasions. My best advice would be to google court gowns or even look on Pinterest to see what you turn up. Also, as I recall there was a period when Victoria did not go to any court appearances at all, leaving them all u...

Silk Ribbon

Does any one know of a good place to get silk ribbon? I need 1 1/2" or 2" wide and I'm hoping for a bright blue.

Re: Making my very first dress, do I have all the right pieces?

I am having a heck of a time figuring out what kind of fabric to buy. I have been looking at the linen from fabrics-store.com. I particularly like the color of http://www.fabrics-store.com/first.php?goto=big_fabric&menu=f&menu=f&fabric_id=724 but I am not sure if it is the right weight....

Re: Dharma fabrics - favorite for undies?

I personally prefer linen underwear. I think it feels less sticky when it gets damp in humid weather and I feel much more comfortable but I seem to be almost alone in that regard.

Re: Making my very first dress, do I have all the right pieces?

If you you like Dharma they have a lovely silk twill that you can use for a victorian if you don't mind dying the fabric. They also have a silk wool blend that is nice for lighter clothes since it is almost sheer. I admit that I make my undies from lightweight linen since I've found that linen gets ...
