Did colonial ladies wear hoops?

You hear of their hoopskirts, but I've never seen any hoops from that time. Did they used hoops or just petticoats or what?

There's no snow here either! :( Just mud! Rats. Anyway, Definately! Ball gown crinolines seem quite bigger than day to day ones. And some eliptical skirts were much braoder than others.
