out for tea

Last week my friend and I dressed in our Victorian dresses and went out to tea. After we finished, we went to a museum that had a special showing of Victorian clothing. We usually dress up and go to tea two or three times a year. Another lady is planning to join us next time we go out. We plan on go...

While doing research on women's undergarments on the internet, I ran across a rather strange site called The Musuem of Menstuation and Women's Health which, of all things, belongs to a man ! He has a peculiar idea about how women handled "that time of the month" in earlier times. G...

corset

Hi, Elizabeth. I saw your corset the first day you posted. I was so impressed by how well it was done, and was amazed that it was your first attempt. I was in a rush, however, and didn't have time to post my compliments. I figured you'd get a lot of replies, anyway. Maybe everyone else thought the s...

Nice job

Wow, kierly, nice job on your first corset! I'm working on my first corset, too. Hope it turns out as nice as yours, but I have my doubts. I've made my mock-up and have been waiting, it seems forever, for the busk and laces to arrive in the mail.

Speechless

Hi, Madamkat. I am speechless. Your dresses are simply GORGEOUS! I was in Savannah, Georgia, for a week and then had surgery after I got home. I haven't been to the Board for a while and am just catching up on what has been going on here. I live near Portland and am sorry I didn't know you were goin...

more

My friend and I are staying a week in the historic district of Savannah, Georgia. We plan on wearing our Victorian dresses when we take the horse-drawn carriage tour. We are getting excited about our trip (except for the plane ride).

I have

My friend and I have dressed up in Victorian clothing and gone to tea several times. We usually do it around Halloween or Christmas, though, and we go out of town. Last Halloween my friend and I and my husband dressed up and went to tea in Astoria, the oldest town in the Pacific Northwest. On our wa...

Trollope

Guess I'm a bit behind, Madamekat, I've only read one Anthony Trollope book, "The Way We Live Now" (our library has that video, too!) :D I'm currently reading a book by Trollope's mother, Frances Trollope. It's called "Domestic Manners of the Americans" and is an account of her three year visit in A...

Library

Hi. I've seen "The Pallisers" and "Lillie". Loved them both. I checked them out from the library. Our library has a lot of BBC productions. It's a small town library but they take suggestions for new movies and books. I asked them to get the "Upstairs, Downstairs" videos, and they did! Anyway, if an...
