Bone casings for the Grand Bustle

Do the casings have to be cut on the bias? Can I just use strips of the right size of my muslin? Or does it need to be sturdier fabric even if one side is just muslin? (I just don't like the packaged bias tape available around here- it is all polyester or polyester/cotton blend and I just can't brin...

Thanks for the suggestions, Heather. I'll try that this weekend when I make my first corset. The patterns and stuff arrived to day and I'm extremely excited to start.

i just ordered TV110 and want to have a plan when it arrives so I can start right away so I'm looking at the sizes on line. Uncorseted my measurements are under the breasts 43.5" across the breasts 46" waist 45" hip 50.5 my modern bra size is 38 B I do have some natural shape regardle...

I have a question about how common was the use of linen? I see lots of cotton and silk discussion but little about linen. I come from the Medieval recreation world where Linen is the common fabric. I find that Dryell works well for cleaning silk. I do Medieval recreation and have several silk gowns that I wear frequently and I dryell them. It's like dry cleaning but you do it in your dryer.
