Re: Undies are done.

I find it easier to sit on the floor while tying the hoops drawstring. Well that's a brilliant idea, how come I never figure these things out for myself? Heather, I see corsets with a hook that holds the laces down below the waist. Have you ever seen a vintage corset that has hooks or buttons...

Re: Undies are done.

I'm loving that hoop. Post a pic of the alterations if you get a chance please, it'd be instructive to see the result of Heather's suggested alterations.

Also, hands on the door in the background: Awesome! 8)

Re: 1860's Ball Gown

I know there was a vogue for matching bracelets on both arms, but was there such a thing as ribbon bracelets as they've styled the gown there?

I LOVE this dress! Pictures don't do it justice, I wish you all could see it in person. The hat is a work of art. I have serious hat envy. :D

Re: The collar for the 1885 dress

I put the dresses side by side and roughly at the same scale. Seems to me like the collar needs to come a little further down in the front. And maybe the collar is a little too wide at the front edge? edit: or maybe not. Maybe it just need to come forward. edit again to add: love the Star Wars colle...

Re: Silk Ribbon

I've gotten silk ribbon from JKM Trims but they only offer the silk in 33yd spools. I calculated ribbon of the same width compared to MJ Trims and MJ is less expensive by a few cents. It looks like JKM has more colors. JKM can often take a long time to ship; they hold off ordering from China until t...
