Re: Natural Form for a Kid

Opera glasses! How marvelous! And Victorian Jetsons, I'm dying. Any chance you'll do Archon again this year? I'm planning on going for the first time, to see my brother who attends most years but never felt like sharing this information with his only sister.

Re: Natural Form for a Kid

Ok, now you're just showing off! :D I have questions: 1> Can we see more details on the hat? Cuz dang, that is one fantastic topper. 2> How did you put those bitty pleats in the two layers of hem ruffles? 3> Are these TV patterns altered for a young person's figure? If so, do you have a system of pa...

A Very Special Kind of Silk

The only thing Victorian about this is that it's at the V&A, but it's so incredible I had to share.

Re: TV400 Fitting Advice for petite?

I'm loving the scalloped edge of the peplum! Why do I never think of these things? You might want to be careful about fittings without your corset if you do tighter sleeves in the future. I did the 1884 French vest bodice for a friend. It was very fitted in the sleeves (far more fitted than th...

We're you supposed to be doing something else? My most creative happenings happen when I'm avoiding responsibility.

Lovely job on your dress! I made a corded petticoat by machine once (...once.) and I'm in awe of you awesomely crazed folk who do these things by hand. 8)

Re: Odd Ball Question

It doesn't help that the Big 4 companies' patterns are awash with ease. Look at the measurement chart, cut an 18, it fits like a sack, take in so much I should have cut a 14. It's not dressmaking, it's crazy-making!

Re: My first ever bustle dress

This is exciting! I love thrifting but I never seem to find stuff I can use for dresses, just ugly old 1970s tablecloths and the like that are too hideous for anything other than a mockup.

Looking forward to the next update. 8)

Thank you both! It was such fun to wear and so messy to make - the glitter got everywhere. The best part was all the exclamations from people when they realized my butt was glowing.

Evangeline

Just back from AnimeIowa 2014. The theme of the ballroom dance this year was 'Disney'. I conceived a dress idea about two weeks ago: Evangeline from 'The Princess and the Frog. (Evangeline is the star that the cajun firefly Ray loves.) Behold Evangeline: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y223/ggode/0...
