Re: Ready for St Louis Archon

I'll be there at 10AM on Saturday and then leave whenever. Wouldn't mind catching the Klingon makeup session.

As for making my daughter something she'll out grow in a year or less? Ha! I live for ironic frustration! And... making this stuff is fun.

Ready for St Louis Archon

Pretty much done except for one button that popped off (why does that always happen?) All the patterns used were Truly Victorian except for my daughter's bodice which is the Mantua Maker Brandy City Bodice. I considered the Truly Victorian Polonaise but my daughter doesn't have a bust and not much o...

Re: Getting closer to completion...

If you look at the front of the bodice, you'll notice a bit of a twist near the last lower buttons. I was just wondering, if I put a tape and attach it to the back seam only, if that would help straighten out the twist. I think I'll give it a try, the worse that could happen is that it doesn't do an...

Getting closer to completion...

Getting closer to finishing the dress... I've seen some photos where they show a belt attached to the inside of the bodice. It seems these belts keep the bodice from shifting. Is this actually the case and are they recommended? http://www.pinterest.com/pin/325596248033801267/" onclick="window.open(t...

New project started - more late late bustle mania

So there is a convention I'd like to go to in October, lets see if I can get the ensemble finished in time. The underskirt is TV261 and the over skirt is a partial/modified TV363 http://www.pinterest.com/pin/325596248033573646/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; http://www.pinterest.com/...

St Louis 2014 Comic Con

Thinking of a new dress and all the available patterns...what to chose, what to choose... The Comic Con renewed my inspiration. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=652598244813308&set=a.651674604905672.1073741858.109848425754962&type=3&theater" onclick="window.open(this.href);return ...

Re: The St Louis Walking Dress

Oooh, it does look better, thank you!

I did find another one on my phone while standing in the rain. Poor feathers are getting droopy.

The St Louis Walking Dress

Well, I finally finished it (except for one button malfunction). And driving a car is not impossible but...yeah, not going to happen often.

Hmmm...the image is kinda fuzzy...will try again when its not raining and maybe ask someone other than my 8 year old.

Anyhoo,

Happy Halloween!

much fabric later...skirts are done

I'm still getting used to working with such large pieces of fabric. And my poor machine has some difficulty when it comes to thick layers...maybe an excuse for a new machine  .

Anyhoo, the underskirt (four gore) and overskirt (Autumn) are done, and I'm off to the bodice.

one regular tournure and one petticoat later...

One more petticoat to go and then I'll be done with the undergarments! Unless I need more petticoats depending on how the underskirt skirt falls, in which case i won't be done...

Anyone ever try to get through a TSA checkpoint wearing a corset? That would be hilarious...and so not.

My first (unfinished) corset!

Still need to add the bias and some lace trim but by golly, this thing actually works and fits! Ms. McNaughton must be some kind of magician  .

Re: 1870s Girl's Dress, and Others From Ste. Genevieve Missouri

Hello MaryGode! I can't figure out how to reply to a private message (I may be too new for that privilege) so I'll reply here and hope you see it. Love your dresses by the way! My 8 year old daughter wants one also. I live in West County St Louis (Wildwood or Glencoe depending on who you talk to). I...

Noob Chemise Inquiry Part I

Greetings fine types that frequent this board! I'm new, so bear with me. I'm going to attempt to make a Victorian late bustle ensemble and will have many head scratching moments I'm sure. I've completed my first items, a chemise and drawers. I have a question about the insertion lace and how it shou...
