Here are the cuffs and pleatings: http://trulyvictorian.netfirms.com/picturepro/nfpicturepro/albums/userpics/10034/bluepleat.jpg [/img] I recognise that arrangement of pleats and pouffs:) It's fabulous, and I adore the fabric. I have white sateen sheets that got a spot of blue dye on them... no!!!!...

Re: Ren costume---Beth, Sara, Fleur, Kris, etc

Okay, you asked for a pic. This is the best I've got. I'm the one on the right, my friend Wikid Red on the left. I used the Margo Anderson pattern and what fabrics I already had. The whole thing went together pretty well but there were things missing in the instructions that should have been in the...

Actually all brands are not equal:) I got to feel the difference between the various makes in February. I did find I prefered the more flimsy busk, as it would curve rather better to the body than the firmer busk I tried a few years ago. The firmer one would be better for straight fronted corsets. T...

Funnily enough there was a documentary on the other night about puberty and discussion of how it has changed so much. Girls tend not to get their period until the weigh a certain weight (48kg/7 1/2 stone) so with nutrition girls are getting them much earlier. There was somehtign also about how girls...

When I use my good quality two part metal eyelets* I work a hole using graduated pointy things so I dont cut the fabric, then I use the hand held setters to put them together. Nearly 5 years of Rheumatoid arthritis has taken its toll all over my body, but nowhere worse than my hands specifically my ...

I have been typecast because of the way I look. I'm white, I'm tallish I have blonde-red hair and I never get the heroine role, ever. I've played some solid roles, but have never and will never play a role like Christine. Sometimes it isn't about the broad brushstrokes but minor ones. It could come ...

The trim looks to be just three rows of ribbon from the photos. I just looked at some very hi res photos of the weird Blue dress on the Nationaltour and yep, it's a row of dark blue velvet, then a row of pale aqua satin, then another dark blue velvet ribbon. I do like the way it's done actually. Oh ...

The skirt is lovely:) As is the shoulder cape:) I must get around to making one.... Funny, I wind up with bodices with no s...

I have a 1950s Husky, and I love it! I also have an Elna Lotus that needs repairing. There is a cheapie number purely for stretch stitches, but the take-up arm has an open hook which keeps dropping the thread. A spot of wire and glue might help there... There is an 80s Elna in the wardrobe as well.

1850s it's not, but it's a beauty anyway:)

I'm curious though, we seem to be losing the segregation of the forums, shouldn't this be in Look what I Found? I mean Show and Tell is supposed to be about our own work right?

I wondreed why the page kept freezing up, the images are only thumbnailed by changing the width and height parameters of the img src tag. This doesn't reduce the size of the images at all. I'm on broadband and the page kept stalling.

I beleive that plastic boning that Farthingales has is a much better quality item than the stuff we usually talk about, which can be purchased at most fabric stores. The stuff you have should be just fine for a corset. And this is the problem when people read or write the word plastic and tar all w...

I had this image in the back of my mind when maing this gown clearly. I was going to put a rose in my hair, but I wound up putting it on the back of my hat as I thought it might get squashed under it;)

c1876 voile and velvet

Kia ora, Well I finally "finished" my voile gown started earlier this year. I altered it somewhat as my jacket just wasn't working and wasn't fixable in the time frame I gave myself. Not to mention while pretty it wouldn't be as eyecatching as I hoped it would be for an Heritage Day I have just retu...
