Re: In a pickle....

Thanks everybody!!!! I am going to try and add to the side seams, as well as make a new vest front. Here is the next issue: One of the bodices is made of purple plaid. I don't want to cannibalize the overskirt hem just to squeak out two 1-inch stips. Would it be ok to add a soild purple strip to the...

In a pickle....

Good afternoon Ladies.... I'm in a bit of a pickle. Knowing that Dickens here in Texas is coming soon, I wanted to put Amanda in her costumes just to make sure everything was good, and we could decide on what to bring, ect.... Well we were all fine and dandy, until she put her corset on........ We h...

Re: interesting bodice

And what about the closure on the jacket? You think just a simple frog at the bust would work? Or would the darts and shaping hold the front without a closure?

Think I am on the right track? I used the NF bodice like you suggested, and made the new lines. I think it's gonna work!

Re: interesting bodice

I don't mind a center front closure, as the jabot covers most of the center front anyway. I think I might just go with the cuirass bodice pattern, and see where I go from there! I'll let you know how it turns out! THANKS HEATHER! :D

Say I wanted to make this, I would just use the tea gown pattern and shorten it/add the vest piece right? Or would TV493 work better?

Re: TV 108 Grand Bustle

Also, you could try to make an adjustable piece that rests against your legs. Just cut the "stay" piece in half, insert grommets, and lace up until the bustle sits in the right place.

Re: Bodice Inset

And just like that... It all makes sense now!!! I was under the impression there was an "upper" and "lower" section to the front but in all acctuality, the "blouse" extends the full length of the front, and the vest just buttons over it all!!! IT ALL MAKES SENSE!!!!!!!!...

Any chance of the overskirt turning into a pattern, or could you modify current patterns?

Re: August Overskirt - raw edges?

I would just do a small narrow hem on them, unless the pattern comes with a facing. If it does, the facing will act as the hem.
