Inquiring minds want to know, did she like it with no petticoat or did she learn something about wearing Victorian without proper undergarments?

Re: PATTERN PAPER

I go to the local "Everything's a Dollar" store and grab their tissue paper because it's easy to see through it for pattern lines and alterations. Once I've worked it all out and/or made the outfit, I transfer it to the very same Walmart banner paper mentioned above :)

Re: Sewing Machine Recommendations

I don't know about all of the Brother machines, but I have the Brother Project Runway edition and it takes a standard plastic bobbin that I can buy at Wal-mart. I haven't check JoAnnes for them though.

Re: WITHOUT A CORSET?

I think those corsets are made with plastic boning. If so, she will end up not being happy with it. Very sad :(

Re: Victorian/Historical fiction recommendations/reviews

My mother got me started reading Victoria Holt when I was in my early teens and I still love the books. Catherine Cookson was another one of her favs and I enjoyed those books as well. Victoria Holt was a pseudonym for Eleanor Hibbert. She also wrote books as Jean Plaidy, Phillipa Carr and several o...

Re: I'm in the Steampunk Chronicle!!

Great article! I just received an invitation to a Steampunk themed wedding in November, so I'm thinking that wedding will be a "practice run" dress for the dress I want to make for my own wedding.

Re: Thoughts, opinions and a couple of questions.

Heather, thank you for your reply, that straightened out the big questions that I had. I'm only five feet tall, so lengthening the back of the bodice probably won't be necessary regardless of how I decide to complete the back, but those parts I'll work out on the mock up. I just received a steampunk...

Thoughts, opinions and a couple of questions.

Ok, I've talked the talk for awhile, but setting a wedding date and the 10 yards of pale pink dupioni my beloved gave me, plus an inheritance of 25 yards of antique silver galoon lace means I have to put my sewing where my lack of drive has been. My combinations (TV 105) and corset (TV 110) mock up ...

Re: Great article about corsets and crinolines

Coming to this topic a bit late, but after reading the article, it sounds to me like the author was prepared to swallow the whole dangerous/stupidly restrictive argument about corsets hook, line and sinker but after actually doing some research was forced to grudgingly admit much of the information ...

While I have had no interaction with this company in any way, the issues you are describing sound like what happens with a "drop shipping" web busisness. Typically, these individuals have a nice web site with items for order that they do not actually stock. When you place an order, they or...
