Re: Victorian/Historical fiction recommendations/reviews

I might give the steampunk books a lookover. I'm not really into SP...and it's kind of childish to say, but it's because I feel the people who are all into SP now, weren't there for a comic book of the same name about 10 years back and it got cancelled! Oh, I'm so petty! Speaking of comics, th...

Victorian/Historical fiction recommendations/reviews

Hey everyone- I've been pretty scarce for a while (back in school FULLTIME) but the Victorian bug is always with me. One of the ways I try to keep things going for myself when I can't get to the sewing machine is reading...waiting on the bus, on lunch break, between classes...and I love reading hist...

1st time in UK, any fashion exhibits to see?

I've been absent from the board since I've gone back to school full time and though that'll continue until summer 2012, I still like to poke my head in a see what's going on. When I'm not studying or working with patients, I'm always thinking of new dress ideas. Anyway...we'll be in Edinburgh and Lo...

She may have even gotten "married" there at one of the ceremonies. I have pictures of her in a wedding dress at the Endor bunker.

Re: How Interchangable are Bustles?

Although I recently made a new bustle (TV108 but left off the lower hoops), and I made the back one size bigger (2XL instead of XL) and It came out pretty big. So maybe that's all you need, one or two sizes larger? Heather, about how far up would it be okay to go to try and make a bigger bustle? No...

Re: How Interchangable are Bustles?

Aggressive or not, I like that bustle! It's like a big ol' booty shelf! I must have one.

Kierly, that dress is gorgeous...will you be making it in the same colors?

Re: Not Victorian (NV) Lost in Space costume help

Thanks for the tips, Heather. I was hoping there were no pleats when I first saw this, but my BF has the show on DVD (naturally  ) and during some of the episodes you can see when she moves that the slits are pleats. The fabric underneath matches the curved trim...because no costume can ever b...

Have you tried just regular tracing paper? I buy it on the roll, 24" wide x 50yds, for about $10. A lot of different art supply or drafting supply websites sell it. I buy mine from Pearl...it's usually under tracing paper or bumwad.

Not Victorian (NV) Lost in Space costume help

Hello everyone- With convention time sneaking up slowly, I've started making costumes other than Victorian dresses. First up is Judy from the original Lost in Space TV show. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y244/CreedsGalBirdy/Sewing%20Projects/family.jpg She's the blonde in the purple dress. Sorry ...

Re: Corsets are for men too--cartoon

In the film "Plunkett and MacLeane", one of the male characters is wearing a waist cincher of some sort. While the movie isn't 100% accurate all of the time, I think they got a lot of fashion details right. Although, it takes place in the 18thcentury, not 19th.
