TV460 collar

Hello, just a quick question about the collar on the tv460 bodice. How far is it supposed to sit back from the center front? I have less than an inch on either side after the collar and I think the collar is going to overlap once I get the bodice hooked up. I did do some shoulder and neckline altera...

Re: TV 460

For the tailoring trick, the hollow of the shoulder would be the part that starts sloping down? And I suppose the front portion is the part I would be stretching? Thanks for the advice, I'll try trimming the armhole first and then see what I can do. Once I get this mockup to finally fit properly, is...

Re: TV 460

Thanks for the help Heather! I think I have some improvement now. However still frustrated with fitting these stupid shoulders of mine! :bang: I'll show you some various pictures I took of the front today, while searching my house for some suitable lighting, lol  http://sphotos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/h...

Re: TV 460

Alright I tried again, this time with a C back and C front. What should I do if my bust measure is 35"? The D front seemed a bit too big in the bust, but the C fits quite snugly already. The fit otherwise seems ok, but I have some issues with shoulder wrinkles that i'm not sure about. Here's a ...

TV 460

Hello, im hoping for some help in deciding whether this bodice mockup fits. In the pictures Ive already taken out some of the length between the armhole and the neckline, thats what the horizontal tucks are. The waist darts will need to be taken in, later too. The back and the bust areas are the par...

1870s and 1880s hats

Where is a good place online to buy a hat appropriate for the late 1870s and early 1880s? I'm looking for a reproduction ready made hat or a made to order hat. I'm not interested in making my own hat or bonnet right at this moment. Also, in the 1880s would a younger woman (22yrs) have worn a bonnet?...

Re: best weights and types of cotton

No I haven't really considered linen. Does it wrinkle really easily? I'm just making a dress to walk around town for halloween basically, so I thought matte solid fabrics would look nicer and more authentic than shiny silky fabrics. Plus I hate sewing with slippery stuff. I do want to sew wit...

best wieghts and types of cotton

Hello, I'm planning on making a sort of transitional bustle dress, natural form just beginning to become the second bustle. Currently I have the fantail skirt, august overskirt, and the 1885 cuirass bodice patterns picked out. What type of cottons and weights of cotton would work best for a fashiona...

TV 101 ruffle ratio

Hi, Can someone explain what the pattern means by a 2.1 ratio for a machine made ruffle on the overlay (overlay on the petticoat with bustle) I have a ruffler foot for my machine that I've never used, but I'm determined to figure it out. I'm not going to gather those ruffles by hand if I can help it...

Re: corset newbie TV110

I think I figured out how to post photos. Here's my second attempt at the corset. I definitely want the traditional victorian corset. The length seems ok, but I think maybe the waist is too big. I apologize for the dark fabric and poor lighting :? http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-sn...

corset newbie TV110

I'm making my first corset and I decided to go with the TV110 based on what I've read on this board. :) I've made up a mockup and now, I'm unsure of how high the bust is supposed to cover. If I put the corset on so that the waistline markings come to my waist and the armhole is about an inch away fr...
