Re: Dress Form Cutaway

The half of the dress that's there is lovely, and the cut-away does an excellent job of breaking down how the outfit comes together. What a wonderful display piece!

Purple, black and grey Natural Form dress

My creation is complete!

The hat in the pics may be later style, but I was getting dressed up for Dickens Fair and wanted the excuse to wear it. It is a ~1905 original.

Re: TV422 fitting help, too small somewhere

Thanks, will try it.

For the bones, the others are also described needing to end "0.25 inch above hip seam line." Is that still correct for the side and front seams?

Re: TV422 fitting help, too small somewhere

I think I've found part of the problem with the sag in the back. It's mostly happening on the right side. I accidentally didn't line up the right shoulder seam correctly. The back piece is about half an inch too far outbound (away from my neck). I've got question about the boning placement/measureme...

Re: TV422 fitting help, too small somewhere

Thanks, Heather! I cut out a size F front and it's fitting much better now. Do you think it's a smidge long, or looks about right?

TV422 fitting help, too small somewhere

I've assembled TV422, Dinner Bodice, and my mockup has several inches of gap at the front. I'm not sure where I should add material to get the best fit. Measurements: bust 34.5 waist 25.5 back width 13 back length 17 I cut size C pieces all around, flaring to size F below the waist. I lengthened the...

Re: Piping the Shoulders?

I see the color difference, too. It looks like one sleeve and both epaulets are a slightly bluer color than the rest. I also see color variation from what's almost certainly lighting and fading, but I wonder if those three pieces were replaced to restore the dress for display. That velvet would be e...

Vested look for Dinner Bodice or Tail Bodice?

I'd like to make natural form a dress using the Hermione Overskirt, and add a vest-style inset to the bodice. Yes, I know the Two-Tone Bodice does this, but I really like the sweatheart neckline and pointed bottom edge on TV462 (Tail Bodice) and TV422 (Dinner Bodice). Which one would work best for t...

Re: TV221 back pleating, too much fabric?

Thank you, Heather. The amount of fabric was intimidating, but after I read your pleating guide and "just did it" it came out beautifully!

TV221 back pleating, too much fabric?

I'm making TV221, Tie-Back Underskirt, to fit a 44 inch hip (size H) and a 28 inch waist (size E). I adjusted the curved seams on the front and side pieces to taper into the smaller waist size, and I think I have them fitting well. However, I'm not sure what I should do about the back, since normall...
