Thank you for posting the link I enjoyed looking at the dresses. On page 60 of Who Wore What? there is an example of the same bodice that the Ellen character is wearing minus the velvet tabs and the sleeves are different also.

The parasol and purse are beautiful. Did you do the beading on the purse yourself? I really like the colour choices. On my screen the parasol looks two-toned, really lovely. Kel

Favorite art books

I was thinking about this when I was at my local library looking for art books. Does anyone have favorite art/artist books they look in for pictures of historical dress? I have H. W. Jansen's History of Art from college but I would like to add more books to my library. Any suggestions for more title...

new book

I was at my local used bookstore looking at quilting books. I picked up Quilts of Provence expecting to find only quilts. It has a chapter on quilted petticoats and beautiful pictures of extant clothing! The majority of the clothing is 18th c. but there are some pictures of other eras. The book also...

This is the dress I finished several weeks ago. http://trulyvictorian.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=1897 I had 7yds of fabric and for inspiration I went to demode's website. She has a section on real women's clothes and I found the pictures of a promenade dress. The shirt I made is Heather's garib...

Frank, it was very good meeting you and Amanda. I wish I would have remembered my camera! You two looked terrific. We went home around the middle of the costume contest, did Amanda enter? Sorry I missed seeing anyone else. Guess it's time to start planning what to make for next year. KellyV

I am wearing an 1860's dress in blue with black trim and a bolero jacket. I'll also have on a black bonnet with a blue peacock on the top/left side. My husband is wearing black with agold vest. The rest of my family didn't want to dress up this year. Kelly

18th c

I was sent a link for a new movie. It is 18th c. but the dresses are beautiful. You can find it at theduchessmovie.com. Once there you can look at the costumes from the movie and I believe you zoom in and rotate them 360. Kel

We live about an hour and a half south of Galveston along the coast in Bay City. Thankfully we were far enough away that the storm surge was only 3ft. at the beach. So clean up at the state park beach is going on this week. In town just some tree limbs down. I'm glad to know that the Texas Ren. Fest...

I love the way your dress is turning out and I adore srtipes. There is just something about black and white. Just curious does anyone know of a book on James Tissots paintings? It seems he gets jammed in with other impressionist painters in books. That gets me to thinking, do all of you have favorit...
