Re: Question: neckline on the #410 polonaise

Thank you. I kinda knew the 70s were a bit more relaxed but wanted to make sure I wasn't making it up myself.

Question: neckline on the #410 polonaise

We're having a discussion on the square neckline of the polonaise as to whether it would be open in the daytime, or if this is just an evening dress. I've been wearing 5 different ones I've made from this pattern, which I LOVE btw, and have never closed it in with either a chemisette or lace during ...

Re: My 1887 Pink Polka Dot bustle gown

Mary, I've been making my pleats by hand up to now, just folding them, sometimes using a ruler or steel bone for my sizing, or just eye-balling it. But I discovered these pleating forks at Costume College that I can't wait to try. They're by http://quickpleater.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);...

My 1887 Pink Polka Dot bustle gown

I made this outfit as part of a mini-theme, The Polka Dot Parade, some of us were doing at Costume College at the beginning of August. I had started the bodice last Sept to see if my fabric I chose would work, and then set it aside to make almost 8 months later when I had time to get back to it. I u...

TV 367 Cascade overskirt

My front piece of this overskirt is HUGE! I read somewhere that you said it shouldn't be at the hip but how far back behind my hip should it go? Maybe I made it too big?

This is beautiful, especially the attention to all the details. Sometimes waiting is worth it for the final outcome. And this was a job well done. I love your hat too.

Two new creations from the TV Romantic Era gown

Again I forgot to share these. I made two fancy versions in the 1835 sleeve style where the sleeves are really puffed out. Instead of gathering the front down, I pleated them down. On the Persimmon dress I sewed orange glass "buttons" down the front bodice and skirt, that were actually fro...

Switching collar from TV 466 to TV 463

I already had my French Vest #463 cut out when the new Alexandra #466 came out and I love the collar on it. Could I use the collar of 466 on 463 w/o any alterations?
I'm going to use the lapel collar from it too on my French vest.

Christmas Tartan Twins

My friend Cindy challenged me to make semi-matching tartan gowns for our guild's Holiday Dinner last December. We used TV 405 Basque bodice & TV 216 Parisian Trained Skirt. We were both very happy with them and plan to add fur trim to it next year.

My 1830s Project

I'm in the middle of making 3 versions of TV 455, the 1830s Romantic gown. Two of them will be worn in the upcoming fashion show at the Riverside Dickens Festival in Riverside, CA on Feb 22 & 23. My first one, I named the Cranberry, is almost done. It still needs hemming, a belt made of the fabr...

Re: Gathering or pleating on #455 1830 gown

Another pleating question for the skirt. The directions say to pin the center of the front panel to the center of the bodice, and the center of the two back panels to the bodice backs and pleat it. Do I also match the side seams of the skirt and bodice? It puts a lot of fabric in the back so wondere...

Re: Gathering or pleating on #455 1830 gown

At the suggestion of someone who said just tack them down, I pleated the part that would have been gathered and right now am tacking them down to keep them in place. Piece of cake! Regarding the cuff slits, I was wondering if decorative buttons or something might have been put on them? I was thinkin...
