Re: TV110 My latest corset

I agree with you Miss Cindy, it's the best corset pattern I've tried! So much easier than any other construction method. I love the way the top and lining are sewn at the same time. Mine fitted just right the first time and it's definitely my favourite. I'd like to remake it with a spoon busk next t...

Re: My Victorian Outfit

Dear Adena,

Your dress looks great! I wish I was working for a historical society and got to wear a victorian gown a bit more often! I particularly like your fabric, it's very pretty. Will it inspire you to start sewing yourself?

Best wishes,
Joëlle

Re: At last! - a new dress

Merci Cathi!
Yes, the photos are a bit small but at the moment, I don't know how to make them bigger! I uploaded them on Flickr and when I post the link to here, they come up that size! Can anybody help? Any technical advice would be appreciated :D

Re: At last! - a new dress

Thank you Katharine! As requested, here is a photo of me in my dress! http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4134/4758248125_7d1da83633_m.jpg Heather, thank you so much! I never thought of what you said about the poufs! I thought, like you mentioned, that I was just meant to attach the skirt to the end of t...

Thanks Tiffers!
Where are you based? You're not going to this Dickensian Garden Party at Rochester by any chance, are you?

Re: At last! - a new dress

Oh thank you Heather! It is a bit too "droopy" the back, isn't it? Just shorten those three pieces of ribbon holding the back? I'll go look up some pictures of how others have done it.

At last! - a new dress

It seems I've been wanting a new dress forever but didn't really have an excuse for making one (ok, you're right, you probably don't need an excuse!). But I am going tomorrow to a Dickensian Afternoon Tea and so I set to work, and here is the result. I love the polonaise pattern and made it before f...

Re: 1886/1887 "Wolfman" Dress

Wow, your dress is amazing and you look beautiful in it!! Love the buttons (is that what they are?) or metal closures you used on your bodice and on your skirt (could we maybe see a photo more up close?). The fabric is gorgeous too.
Fabulous.

Re: UK meet up?

Thank you Joanne for these dates, I will put them in my diary - there are a few events in there I didn't know about. Yes, it would be nice if we could find a place to post all UK events (though I realise this is an American website, hopefully Heather wouldn't mind?....) - we don't seem to have anyth...

Hi, I'm having problems too since the new look forums... When people post pictures, all i see is a very long address that is not "clickable". Anybody have the same problem?

Re: UK meet up?

Hi Louisa, Picnic sounds great. I know Steve mentioned it before but if it is during the Easter holiday, our family is usually away then (kids off school and all that). But if it were the weekend before or weekend after, I'd love to go! I keep dithering about Dicken's World, only because it's such a...

Re: UK meet up?

Hi, Did you ladies manage to meet up in the end? I have not been to anything for ages and would love it if someone would suggest an event I could go to and meet other like-minded souls. I may be going to Dicken's World at the weekend (is that not where the Hoi Polloi ball was held?) where some of th...

Thank you so much Heather, that's exactly what I was after. If I didn't want a "sweetheart" neckline but a more straight one, would I just take the line of the centre piece straight up (or curved a bit again to tighten it above the breast)? And do I not want the busk to end just below the ...

TV110 as a bodice.... help please!

Hi, I'm sure this has been discussed before but I can't find a thread... I would like to make TV110 corset so that it goes higher up on the bust (to be worn on its own as a bodice). I can picture that the lines of the pieces would need to go in as you go past the widest part of the bust but I'm not ...
