Re: Best way to adjust Late Bustle skirts for large hips

I'm finally getting around to tracing my skirt pattern and it occurs to me that the back panel is "full width", but my fabric is 56" wide. Can I just adjust the back panel to be the full width of my 56" wide fabric, especially since most of my hip width is in the booty. ET...

Altering TV466 Alexandra Bodice

I am making my first bustle outfit for an event in February and I want to make the Alexandra bodice, but I don't want it to button up the front. I'm very taken with the fashion plates that have a shirred or ruffled section in the center front and I'm a bit at a loss on how to make that happen. I kno...

Re: Best way to adjust Late Bustle skirts for large hips

Thanks for the quick reply, Heather. Does this also apply for the bustle pattern as well?

Best way to adjust Late Bustle skirts for large hips

Before I trace my pattern pieces or cut a mockup, I wanted to ask how best to alter my petticoats, bustle, and skirt pieces for larger hips. My hip measurement is 62" at the widest, so I need to add approximately 6" to all of my garments. I'm using TV120 petticoats, TV163 tournure in regul...

Re: TV442 Fitting Problems

Heather, this is less related to the fit and more clarification of the directions. When I am sewing the lining to the bodice with the right sides together, the directions say I'm supposed to sew all around the neckline, center back, and bottom, then pull inside out from the armhole. Then it says for...

Re: TV442 Fitting Problems

I cut out the bigger front and adjusted the outer dart by 1 inch on each side for a 2 inch total reduction at the waist. I like 99 percent of the fit now, except for this weird baggy-ness at the center bust just below the neckline. Is there a way to adjust the center seam to get rid of that part? Or...

Re: TV442 Fitting Problems

Should all of the excess width at the waist come from the outer dart only or should I spread it to all 4 darts evenly?

Re: TV442 Fitting Problems

I forgot to mention that I cut out the size K based on my waist measurements, but the bust on that size is only 50". Should I cut out the next size bigger front with the 52" bust and just take the darts in more?

TV442 Fitting Problems

I'm attempting to make the 1860's Ballgown Bodice for an upcoming Civil War reenactment event and I'm having some trouble getting the fit down. A big problem I'm having is that there is a 10 inch difference between my waist and my bust measurements, and my bust is quite high due to the shaping of my...

TV103 and the problem of big hips

Help! I'm having a lot of difficulty fitting the top bones of my TV103 elliptical cage crinoline so that it lays correctly against my bum. Part of the problem is that my corseted waist measurement is 42" but my hips are almost 16" larger and my hips stick out wider than the top 3 bones. I'...
