Re: Sleeves for tv416

Hi Heather! Thanks for your reply. I thought the sleeves looked more aligned with my research. You might consider updating the cover art. More folks might purchase it with the more accurate sleeves represented. I'll send a photo when I'm finished! It's been super easy to put together and I just have...

Sleeves for tv416

I'm making up this bodice and just finished the sleeves. However, they look nothing like the cover image for the pattern. I've been checking photos online made up and the sleeves have a cuff. Mine do not, they are not mentioned in the pattern at all. Was the pattern changed?

Thank you! :) I am going to try it again and am on the lookout for some sheer polka dot fabric.

TV401 Fit

Ok, I'm done with TV401. And I'm reasonably pleased even though it is obviously too large. Pleased mostly because this was my first project on my new treadle machine (all but the armholes and buttonholes because why would I want to do that to myself already?). I had planned to use this piece for fol...

Re: Bodice Facing TV401

Thanks Heather! I think it came out rather well. Will have to post pictures when I am done. Just one more question: My instinct is that you wouldn't, because it would look funny funny but, would one use under sleeves with this get-up? Or is this a strictly casual hanging out at home garment? What ab...

Bodice Facing TV401

I am making up view A with waistband. I just want to make certain I understand the directions before I make a mess of things. Essentially is the final result that the facing is on the outside on the right hand side and inside on the left hand side? Which side do the button holes go on (I can never r...

Re: Natural Form Outterwear and Ruchability (?) of fabric

Thanks Andrea! I think your hood turned out great. I was going to go with something without any structure, but now I may change my mind. I also have some faux fur that might work well in some capacity. Hmmm....too many choices!

Re: Natural Form Outterwear and Ruchability (?) of fabric

EDIT: I just found a similar thread at the link below. But it doesn't answer all of my questions! http://www.trulyvictorian.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=6546 I'm reviving this thread because I'd like to make the hood that LidiaBest posted a link to. 1875-ish is the period I'm aiming for. I'm ...

Re: Yellow fabric in late bustle era

I really can't be of any help, but I really like the idea! (I've also got a stash of orange dupioni that I know isn't period but i'm thinking of sporting it as an under skirt) Do you have any pictures of the shade of the fabric?

Re: Collars and Cuffs

Thanks Heather and Sarah! You've both answered my questions. I'll do a bit of looking around for collars. It's not something I've been looking for before so I'm sure I've missed that detail many times.

Collars and Cuffs

I'm not sure this qualifies as underwear, exactly. Perhaps these are accessories? Anyway I have found little discussion of collars and cuffs and even fewer examples of modern reproductions put to use. I'd like to create the most accurate impression I can, so I have a few questions. I know that civil...
