Re: My 1890s skirt and jacket set

Thank you so much everyone! :)

I don't know exactly what material the fabric is but I think it's some kind of blend.

My 1890s skirt and jacket set

Hi everyone! I finally finished my first set of Victorian clothes, it became an 1890s set. I wore them to an event in January so they are very warm for this weather. I've sewn everything except the blouse. The skirt is a TV291 1891 walking skirt and the jacket is a TV 498 1898 Eton jacket. I absolut...

Re: Quick question!

Thank you so much. For TV490, can I use plastic boning?

Re: Eton jacket wearing ease

Or do you mean that you use the lining of the blouse to make it fit under Eton jacket?

Quick question!

When using boning in bodices (not corsets), can you use plastic boning or do you need steel?

First corset and chemise finished!

So, here is my first set of compleated chemise and corset. I think they look pretty beautiful together, though I think thhe corset went a little short at the top and too small at the bust. Well, lesson learned for next time. :)

Re: Lacing question

Oh, that was very helpful. Thank you very much! :D Yes I am wearing a chemise under my corset. And I tried lacing it tighter in bust and hips so the gap would be more even and that really helped. I would never have thought about that myself so once again, thank you very much! And very intesting to l...

Lacing question

Earlier this year I finished my first corset in model TV110 and I am very happy with it. Though when I was wearing it for an event I found it hard to wear for the long amount of time. The biggest issue I found was that when I lace it a lot of stuff gets stuck in the gap in the back around the waist,...

How to... train?

I am planning to go to a 1890s event and need to sew ballgown for that. I fell in love with the 1893 bell skirt. I have never sewn for this era or been to a ball so here comes the stupid question...

How do you dance in a train? Are you supposed to hold it up or something?

Re: First corset!

Hi, I´m back again. I had to sew some other things but now I´m back with my corset. :) I was told that it was very important to use a fabric in the mockup as stong as the one I´m supposed to have in the real corset. The fabric I used last time was very strong but not that strong, so this time i use ...

1860s skirt

If you want to make a simple 1860s skirt to wear over a TV141 crinoline. Can you just sew a long rectangel?

Round cage crinoline vs. walking cage crinoline

Hi! :) I´m thinking of making a crinoline for the first time and I´m trying to decide wich pattern I should use. Personally I like the shape of Round cage crinoline better than Walking cage crinoline when I think Walking cage crinolin looks a little bit to round at the top. But when I read about the...

Re: First corset!

I think I have to go down one cup-size because it almost dosn´t give any suport at all. Over all the corset is quite tight and it was a bit hard to bast together in the front as you maybe can see on the picture.
