Low neck bodices..for daytime..proper or not?

There is a conversation going on over on facebook...about whether low square neck bodices were worn during the day time...some say they were and cite fashion plates and paintings of women in square necked low bodices..Others say that the majority of respectable women would not wear them out in publi...

How do I get puffy 90s sleeves to stand up, net?

I am trying to figure out a way to get the sleeves of my Eton jacket to stand up nice and full....I tried netting and I guess that would be the best way...any ideas? How would you suggest doing this?? Thanks

Assymetrical skirt layout question

Ok, I get how the one piece is laid out..the piece that gets taped together but the other one...the one that says extend to 50 inches...huh? Does that mean I cut it out as if it were a 50 inch pattern...?

Re: Heather: we need a new pattern!

Got my Edwardian corset nearly done!

For me this is a major deal!! I don't like making corsets and have not had good success with the ones I have tried to make...but they said this one was easy and it really is. I am very pleased..I just have to put in the bones and binding..Thanks Heather for your help, also! Hugs

Question on 1856 dress

Hi There

I have the 1856 dress 99% finished...my question is: How long should it be? I am wearing low heeled boots and it is about instep length...

Also...how long should the sleeves be or rather how much of the under sleeves should show? They seem a bit long to me...Thanks!!

Re: Need help on TV142

Thanks, that makes sense but what about: "seamed the ends...it says to leave an 8 inch gap...where? between the channels I assume as the picture shows....then when I go to insert the hoops it says to fasten them together but if they won't go past the sewn center seam I can't do that..."??

Need help on TV142

Ok, here I am again..sigh...I am having problems with putting the bag together and after reading the pattern a dozen times I am not getting it... So the thing should measure 110 inches around..ok..I got it done...seamed the ends...it says to leave an 8 inch gap...where? between the channels I assume...
