Thanks for your help. I think I figured something out that will work (at least for the front - haven't tried the back). I took some of the 'top' off (at the curve and the pleats) and then made the fan pleats a bit smaller - this still made for a nice draping across the front. I think I can also shap...

I am putting together a mock up of the 1886 Bordered Asymetrical Overskirt. I have the front pleated and it seems to be going OK (though I am not 100% sure on the direction of the pleats, but it looks right...) Thanks for your suggestions, I think I will try some black netting at the back to create more bulk. As for the concept, there isn't much of one (like I said, I am new to all this).
