What era dress to make while pregnant??

I always make a historical dress for Halloween. However, this Halloween I will be about 30 weeks pregnant. I know Victorian or Edwardian dresses are out of the question because of the corset. I was thinking of making a lame Pioneer dress. Or what about a Regency era dress? Does anyone have any ideas...

First corset completed!!

So my husband and I went to Denver Comic-Con a few weeks ago. I decided to make a Victorian Black Widow (from the comic books) costume. This is my first corset that I made. I used the LM100 Dore Corset Pattern. I adjusted the pattern to raise the front a bit. Why did I attempt this on my first corse...

Thanks for your help!!!

This corset has been slow going! It's hard to get motivated after 8-10 hours of work every day! I'll post pics as soon as I get finished!

Re: Would you look at my LM100 Dore Mock up? *UPDATE #3*

I think I've gotten the front to how I want it. I took it in a little. My main question is this: How do I measure for the busk?? Do I measure from the top to the bottom without any allowance? Right now top to bottom is 14" since I made it taller. Should I buy a 14" busk or a smaller one? I...

Re: Would you look at my LM100 Dore Mock up? *UPDATE #3*

I bought some plastic cable ties for the temporary boning. I also decided I didn't want that much of a dip in the front so I extended the front a little bit. The top is still way too big. There is a couple of inches of air at the top. I will take it down a little bit to fit the curve of my bust. Act...

Re: Would you look at my LM100 Dore Mock up? *UPDATE #3*

So I finally got around to making my 3rd mock-up. I extended the top a couple of inches. I wanted a sweetheart neckline. However, I think the bust is now TOO big. It doesnt lie flat against my chest. I am wondering if this is because the busk and boning are not in yet. The size I cut out this time w...

Re: Would you look at my LM100 Dore Mock up? *UPDATE #2*

Heather, thank you so much for your help!!!! Tonight I will cut a new mock-up. Good thing I bought a BUNCH of canvas!!! I'll make the new one: Bust: 14B Waist: 12 Hips:16 Since this is for a comic-con outfit, I was not going to wear anything under the corset. I'm beginning to rethink that idea and n...

Re: Would you look at my LM100 Dore Mock up? *UPDATE #2*

Thanks, Heather. I did not make any changes to the one mock-up I had made...yet. Here are the pics with it stitched in the front. I couldn't do it myself, so I had my husband do it. Unfortunately, he did a horrible job and the bottom doesn't even match up. Sigh. I really think the hip is too small s...

Re: Would you look at my LM100 Dore Mock up? *UPDATE*

Heather, I made the size that you suggested. I also made a 2" gap in the back. I can't believe that I posititioned it too low again. It looked super high when I had it on and then my husband snapped the pic. sigh. I think the bust might be too big since it can touch when the back is sewn togeth...

Would you look at my LM100 Dore Mock up? *UPDATE #3*

So this is my very first attempt at corest making. I know this does not fit right. I believe the bust is too big. My uncorseted measurements are: Bust: 37-38" 34DD (in bra size) Waist: 30" Hips 40" I cut out a size 14C for bust and 16 for waist and hips. I don't think it is too long. ...

Re: Making my FIRST corest! Advice needed!

WEll, I am kinda bummed now. haha. I do NOT have a tubular shape. I am quite the opposite with a curvy body. I'll go ahead and try this corset pattern. I don't want to waste my money by not using this pattern. My husband would be pretty upset if I had to buy ANOTHER pattern and not use the one I hav...

Re: Making my FIRST corest! Advice needed!

Thanks Heather and everyone! Advice greatly appreciated! Heather, I LOVED that link you sent me and I'll probably read that article every day until that corset is finished! I am probably going to start the mock-up after Christmas because I have so much going on this month. I might have to cut out th...

Making my FIRST corest! Advice needed!

Hey all. I just bought the LM100 corset pattern (I am kind of regretting this now because I also like the TV one). I am a curvy girl so hopefully the LM pattern won't make me look like a tube. Should I make a mock-up first before ordering the boning and busk? I am nervous to try and find my correct ...

My new Victorian hat!!!

I just finished my Victorian hat a few weeks ago. I've had the dress for two years and just now got around to making the hat. I used Lynn McMasters pattern for the Victorian winter bonnet. I loved the pattern and I highly recommend her patterns. I had so much fun making the hat. I also made a Civil ...

Which corset should I make?

I am wanting to make an Edwardian dress this year. However, I have never made a corset before. Would it be easier for me to make the Victorian corset for the dress instead of the Edwardian corset? If so, which Victorian corset would you recommend? LM100 or TV110? I like both corsets, but am unsure w...

Re: Red and Black dresses

You can't see the black in the pictures very well. However, every piece of fabric is trimmed with black. I am still working on my hat and parasol! Once those are completed my dress will be complete! http://trulyvictorian.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=8970 http://truly...
